Masana Kids
Masana Kids was assigned to me as my Bachelor’s project in University. The task consisted of rethinking the entire brand based on a concept, after a thorough preliminary study of the market. I had to identify the problems encountered by the brand and try to solve them through design..
Masana Kids is a brand based in Mar del Plata, Argentina, that sells gluten-free play dough, handmade with natural ingredients and essential oils. It was founded by Veronica to make play dough for her autistic son, who is also gluten intolerant. He would eat the play dough and have an allergic reaction.
The challenge for me was to design a strategy that would allow Veronica to increase sales, reduce packaging materials to fit more boxes in a tiny space, and maintain a sustainable business.
What methods did I use to conduct market research?
I did benchmarks, opinion polls, charts, SWOT, interviewed autism professionals and psychologists.
Social Media
Social media communication was planned on three things:
Interaction (orange): Look for user interaction with the brand.
Community (blue): Intended to form a community of parents of autistic children.
Sustainability (green): Intended to communicate the eco changes of the brand.
The packaging is made from recycled paper, and maintains the play-dough fresh so it doesn’t dry out.
The banner is intended to be placed in weekend and holiday markets that the brand participates in. It tells their story, which I considered to be the key sales point.
